INTERNSHIP & WORKING STUDENT

5. Semester / 6. Semester

In my study course "Internet of Things" a practical semester after the 4th semester is mandatory. Therefore I worked for six months at Bosch Powertools in Leinfelden. More precisely, in the HMI Design Team (Human Machine Interface) of the measurement-technology department.
As I enjoyed working there and I wanted to be further involved in the ongoing projects I decided to stay as a working student for another six months. So I moved to the so called "New Digital Business"-Team. There I had the opportunity to expand my field of activity from app and software design to get introduced into Lean Startup and Business Modelling.

Powertools Apps & SW

Apps & Software

Being part of the HMI Team I worked on the next generation of connected applications for different powertools of the measurement department. I was involved in research (interviews & analysis), conception (features & focus), design (UI Design) and testing (conducting user tests).

New Digital Business

After four months I moved into the "New Digital Business Team". There I deepened my User Research Skills and improved them by having lots of personal interviews and clustering information afterwards. I also got introduced into the Lean Startup Process and Business Modelling. There my team and I researched new smart ways and technology on how to take room measurements easily and fast on site.
There we often used tools like the Value Proposition Canvas and the Business Model Canvas.

Learnings

As said before I got the chance to improve my design and research skills. Furthermore I learned a lot new stuff in the "New Digital Business" Team. I also got the possibility to take part of the
UC Berkely Lean Startup Accelerator – a two months program on applying Lean Startup Methods in a real world project. We got weekly coachings and feedback on our process to validate a Business Model for our product.
Last but not least, I want to thank David Abele my supervisor for an excellent internship and a really good time overall!
